Embark on a thrilling 6-day adventure through Kenya, starting and ending in Nairobi. Your journey begins in Masai Mara, famous for its Big Five animals. You’ll see at least 4 of these fantastic creatures and witness the incredible wildebeest migration if you’re there at the right time of year. Next, head to Lake Nakuru, just a 5-hour scenic drive away, to spot rhinos and enjoy birdwatching. Finally, head to Lake Naivasha, where you’ll take a charming boat ride and a captivating walking tour on Crescent Island. You’ll love the stunning views and unforgettable wildlife encounters throughout this tour, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Nairobi to Masai Mara
Your tour starts with a pick-up at 7:30 AM from your Nairobi hotel or Airport and a drive to Masai Mara. This drive will take 5 to 6.5 hours, with a scenic stopover at Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Masai Mara shortly after noon, check into your lodge/camp, have a hot lunch, and then depart for an afternoon game drive.
After the game drive, we head back to the lodge/camp to reach it by around 5:30 or 6:00 PM. We freshened up and enjoyed a freshly prepared dinner. Overnight at your lodge.
Note: The last one-hour drive to Masai Mara is on a corrugated and bumpy road, which may not be comfortable for clients with back problems. Clients with back problems can consider flying directly to (and out of) Masai Mara.
Day 2 and Day 3 – Masai Mara
Today’s itinerary is flexible. You can discuss the previous evening with your guide and plan today’s schedule.
You can have a relaxed breakfast, depart for full-day game drives around 9:00 AM with a packed lunch, and return to the lodge late afternoon around 6:00 PM. Or you can leave at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive (This is the best time to see the animals and an excellent chance to witness hunt/kill). Later, return to accommodation for breakfast, relax, and depart on an afternoon game drive with a packed lunch. You will stop at a picnic spot for a packed lunch and later depart on a game drive until the park is closed. Around 6:00 PM, I returned to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Around 10:00 AM, after a relaxed breakfast, check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, which is about a five-hour drive from Mara gate. Upon reaching the Nakuru lodge, check-in, have dinner, and relax for the day.
Note 1: Morning game drives in Masai Mara can be added on the last morning at the park by paying additional park fees.
Day 5 – Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, proceed for morning game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park until noon. Post lunch, proceed to Lake Naivasha accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – Lake Naivasha to Nairobi
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride to Crescent Island, where you will do a nature walk next to zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, waterbucks, antelopes, and many types of birds. Return to Naivasha for lunch at your lodge and then proceed to Nairobi by boat.
Optional Add-on Tours: For an additional cost, you can visit Hell’s Gate National Park near Naivasha, where you can hike, bicycle ride, and do other activities.
