Getting Around Uganda
Budget-Friendly Options:
- Boda Bodas: These motorcycle taxis are a ubiquitous and affordable way to zip around cities like Kampala and Jinja. However, prioritize safety by choosing reputable providers like SafeBoda or Uber Connect, which offer standardized pricing and reliable drivers equipped with helmets.
- Minibuses: Consider the vibrant and economical matatus (minibuses) for inter-regional travel. While they provide a cultural experience, be prepared for crowded conditions and flexible departure schedules.
Comfortable Choices:
- Taxis: Taxis provide a safer and more comfortable alternative, though they come at a higher cost.
- Rental Cars: Rent a car and explore at your own pace for ultimate flexibility and independence. Several agencies offer car rentals, and you can even hire a driver for approximately $60 per day to navigate unfamiliar roads and enhance your wildlife spotting opportunities during safaris.
- Road Conditions: Be aware that road conditions in Uganda can vary significantly.
