This 6-day tour starts with an exhilarating gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you’ll trek through lush forests to encounter these majestic primates up close in their natural habitat. Next, you’ll visit the stunning Lake Bunyonyi, known for its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere, where you can relax and enjoy water-based activities. Your journey continues with an exciting safari in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions and other wildlife encounters. You’ll then explore the lesser-known North of Queen Elizabeth, known for its scenic landscapes and diverse wildlife. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to track chimpanzees in Kalinzu Forest, where you can observe these intelligent primates in their natural environment. 

Short itinerary:

Day 1 – Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi National Park. Stay at Ruhija, Bwindi National Park (L,D)
Day 2 – Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Stay at Lake Bunyonyi (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Ishasha Sector for game drive. Stay at Ishasha sector.(B,L,D)
Day 4 – Morning game drive at Ishasha Sector & transfer to North of Queen Elizabeth for Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Stay at Queen Elizabeth.(B,L,D)
Day 5 – Full Day game drive at Queen Elizabeth. Stay at Queen Elizabeth.(B,L,D)
Day 6 – Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu Forest and transfer to Kampala. (B,L)

Transfer Time:

Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi is around 8 to 10 hours (470+ Km)
Day 2: Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi is around 1.5 to 3 hours (60+ Km)
Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi to Ishasha sector is around 4 hours (120+ Km)
Day 6: Kalinzu to Kampala is around 7 hours (340+ Km)

Note:

  1. To avoid the long drive to Bwindi, we can arrange flights to Bwindi from Entebbe. Another option is to start from Kigali, Rwanda. The drive from Kigali to Bwindi is around 4 hours (170+ Km).
  2. On Day 1, if you take a flight to Bwindi or start from Kigali, then you can add a Batwa cultural visit on this day at extra USD 40 per person.
  3. At Lake Bunyonyi no activities are included. You can do Canoeing, Boat ride, Community walk, Bird watching , Batwa Cultural Visit and many more activities at Lake Bunyonyi by booking directly with the accommodation once you reach Lake Bunyonyi.

Tour Plan

1
Day 1: Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi National Park
After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe (breakfast not included in this program) and short safari briefing by your driver-guide, you will be transferred to Bwindi National Park, which is approximately 8 hours' drive from Kampala. The journey is scenic as you'll pass through lush green countryside, local villages, and towns. You'll make a stopover at the Equator for a photo opportunity and to learn about the geographical significance of the area. You'll have lunch en-route at Mbarara and arrive at Bwindi National Park in the evening. You'll check into your lodge and have dinner before settling in for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After an early breakfast and along with packed lunch and water you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don'ts of gorilla tracking. The park rangers will assign you to a gorilla family, and you'll be accompanied by a guide and trackers to help you locate the gorillas. The trek can take several hours, but the experience of coming face to face with the gorillas is truly unforgettable. You'll spend an hour with the gorillas, observing and taking photos before trekking back to the park headquarters. After the gorilla trek, you'll transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you'll check into your lodge.
In the evening you can opt to do any of these optional activities - boat/canoe ride around the lake, hike to one of the surrounding islands, visit local communities, or simply unwind on the lakeshore and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Day 3: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Ishasha Sector for game drive
After breakfast, you will transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions. Upon arrival, you will embark on a game drive in search of these unique big cats, as well as other wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species. After the game drive, you will check into your accommodation in Ishasha sector.

Day 4: Morning game drive at Ishasha Sector & transfer to North of Queen Elizabeth for Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel
After breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive in the Ishasha sector, a remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park that is home to tree-climbing lions. You can also spot a variety of wildlife including elephants, buffalos, and antelopes.
After the game drive, you will transfer to the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The cruise offers an opportunity to view a variety of wildlife species, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and several bird species. You will then check into your accommodation at Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Full Day game drive at Queen Elizabeth. Stay at Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, you will embark on a full-day game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will have the chance to spot a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, and antelopes. The game drive will take you through different landscapes, including savannah grasslands, wetlands, and acacia woodlands. You will return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner. The game drive offers an excellent opportunity to view and photograph these animals in their natural habitat.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu Forest and transfer to Kampala or Entebbe
On this final day of the itinerary, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu Forest. After breakfast, you will set off on a guided trek through the forest, where you will have the opportunity to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat. This is a beautiful forest with several trails that are home to a variety of primate species, including chimpanzees.
You will trek through the forest with an experienced guide for about 3-4 hours, and when you find the chimpanzees, you will have an hour to observe and take photos of them. After the trek, you will transfer back to Kampala, where you will be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe or at the Entebbe airport, depending on your onward travel plans.
